Unfinished or problematic feel to them all. De-categorization of logic defying
imagery because of angle and topics. Melocco, hand pots and cups, colors blend
together, monochromatic. Quotes online on her blog. Distorted and blurred
imagery with Untitled (Cheetah). Uses more tangible objects in his work, not
just pictures like in Untitled (Display). Post Appropriation Artist. Looking
them as objects not photographs and that classifies him in this way. Sculptural

Rachel Heffner- Alex Prager
Born in 1979 in LA, Photographer and Filmmaker. Dropped out

a job at a knife shop. William Eggleston inspires her to become a photographer.
Film stills from a film she made called Despair. Struggle of a ballerina,
conflicts with love= suicide. Spotlights she jumps from a building. Compulsion= disaster and special turbulence.
A lot of her work is inspired by LA. Compulsion 1. Face in the Crowd film=
rebuilt huge spaces of dense public gathering places. Extras to film the scene
as well as friends and relatives, they are all just another face in the crowd.
Video installation with actress Elizabeth Banks, 3 monitors for this piece. She
personally dresses and stages each model for the pieces. Mainly works with
primary colors, hates neon colors, they are new age and she wants a classic
feel to her work. She choses 50s and 60s styles for the classic style as well.
Min’s response= “Is that all?” Part of Post appropriating artist, very
influenced by William Eggleston which could be why she choses that era in her
work. Complete lack of respect was given to this presenter.

blog. Detective 1980. Asked mother to have a detective to follow her around the
city, planned it according to where was important to her. She questions the
roll of the spectator. She does a lot of collaborations with people. She
changes the detective to the double game in the book. Voir La Mer 2011. Pays 14

is intimacy… on the blog” Sudo Documentary, staged documentary. All look like
someone else is taking the shot. Some are more intimate than others. See
America by Bus. Travels to different greyhound stations and documents what
people he finds. Makes up stereotypes of what people are their. Spans over a
long period of time as well. Sabrina looks rich but is traveling by bus. Has a
lot of blown out areas in my opinion. Touching Strangers. Quote on blog.
Strangers going into personal spaces of each other without knowing each other.
He uses an 8x10 view camera for his work. Awkward tension for the models.
Morgan Cook- Richard Galpin

constructivism, and futurism. Post Appropriation artist. Good Quote. Shows
video with no sound. Peeling away emulsion, sanding away layers. Did that until
2013 then starts orbital sanding. He adds sculptural elements to his work. More
colorful than you would expect. Pre-galvanized steel drywall studding and
automotive paint for his sculpture. Series Ten Thousand Revolutions Per Minute-
Orbital Sanding. Some stuff he is doing doesnlt look city like at all. These
are from 2013, when in class discussion, this should be discussed. Travel Both
Tracks- installation. Kinetic Boom, 2015- installation. Created them all in London out of
construction materials, painted them with matt paint so the metal can shine.
Color palate is based on construction site colors. Sketches of his
constructions, super meticulous planner. Viewing station in Manhattan. Only
look at it through the hole. Placed right where he took the shot of the
original image. Neat that it is outside because you create an active viewing
experience that changes often.
